The Jeep pickup truck was based on the famous Jeep Wagoneer It was initially referred to as the gladiator and was in production from 1962 to 1988 The Honcho was a trim package offered on the base J10 model It was part of a series of special packages offered in the 1970S and 80S The original Gladiator truck was the basis of the first post war U S Army truck Designed to be a civilian vehicle It was then adapted for military use The basic engine in the Honcho was a 258 C I Six cylinder engine with an available option of the AMC 401 C I V8 rated at 225 HP Both engines used the Quadra Trac drive system and were known to be strong and reliable
